Dolores Aveiro, the mother of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, has for the first time entered the line of the rape scandal, which follows her son, the Sun newspaper reported.
Months ago, an investigation was reopened in the city of Las Vegas on the charge of rape by former fashion model Katherine Mayorga, 34, against Ronaldo in an incident dating back to June 13, 2009.
"I have full confidence in my son, I know him very well," the source quoted Juventus's mother as saying. "Catherine did not go to my son's room to play cards."
Abeiro, who now spends most of her time in Madeira, Portugal, has expressed her support for her son by posting a picture of Ronaldo on her social networking accounts, bearing the label "We are with you."
"I want to see who has the courage to put this picture on his personal account for a week, for him, for us, for Portugal and for justice," she said on the picture.
